Making The Most Of A Golden Opportunity: The SCBP Business Networking and Card Exchange
By Paula Costlow
On November 9th, PSGCNJ members had an opportunity to participate in an event sponsored by the Somerset County Business Partnership which was held at Maggiano‘s in Bridgewater. The SCBP enabled five of our active members to attend their Business Networking and Card Exchange for free. SCBP even forwarded a pamphlet on how most effectively to ‘work’ an event of this nature. Our members went with their own business cards and another set of business cards from PSG to hand out and exchange with the local business leaders.
The event hosted many vendors such as Branchburg Sports Complex, the Courier News, and even NJ Best Buys‘ .Daily Deal.. Many representatives were there from large corporations to small business owners, all looking to network and meet new prospects. This was a great opportunity for members of SCBP to learn about PSG; who we are and what we do. Not only was the food excellent, but two PSG members won door prizes.
The SCBP is an organization focused on improving the economic climate of Somerset County through the prosperity of its businesses, large and small. Members of SCBP can provide new business relationships, enhance credibility, and increase connections. They also sponsor events that teach new skills, and allow their members (and guests) to exchange ideas, share knowledge, participate in business initiatives, and voice opinions and concerns with each other.
We look forward to hearing more about the Somerset County Business Partnership from a speaker at our general PSG Monday morning meeting in January.
PSGCNJ Alumni Night: An Unqualified Success
by Shelia Van Diver
On November 13th, both current and alumni PSGCNJ members, got together for an evening of camaraderie and networking at the 2010 PSGCNJ Alumni Night. Approximately 40 people attended the event at Stoney Brook Grille in Branchburg. Members talked about their positive experiences with PSG and how the services and support offered by the group continues to help them, whether they have landed or are still in transition. Attendees were inspired by the positive and upbeat messages that were shared.
The atmosphere was one of appreciation and support. But most of all, it was great to see the people who have landed! It was terrific to see our alumni members who have moved on but came back to let us know that there is light at the end of the transitional tunnel.
Our own Matt Burns was a great master of ceremonies who kept the program moving along. DJ extraordinaire, John Di Rienzo, provided the music as membership rocked to the beat of the Motown sound. The event is another testimony to the excellent teamwork and organizational strengths of the Programs and Networking Committee. Special thanks Charlene Aiken and John DiRienzo for coordinating such a great event.
