April 7: Greg Stewart Presents Networking to Build Better Relationships

By Arlene O’Reilly

Networking is a linchpin of any job search. However, many people in transition, uncertain what to do in a room full of strangers, dread going to networking events. Even interviewing is more appealing to many job searchers.

At PSGCNJ’s Monday, April 7 meeting, Gregory Stewart speaks on Improving Your Networking Skills. As an executive coach and business consultant, Stewart believes that networking is a process of building and maintaining relationships. The successful growth of his own business, NexGen Management is proof that his ideas work.

In his presentation, Stewart provides insights and tips on building trust and creating reciprocity in relationships as a way to identify job opportunities. The skills and behaviors he teaches help overcome networking fears and increase confidence. Stewart explains how to prepare before a networking event, so you know what to do the minute you walk into the room. Critical tactics shared at the presentation include how to:

• Put your fears aside once you are at the event

• Meet new people and easily talk to them

• Keep the conversation going when it is stalling

• Work a room to get the most benefit from the event

You leave Stewart’s talk knowing exactly what you can do to be a better networker.
