Free Programs Offered at Bridgewater Library

If you want to sharpen your job skills, but lack the funds to go back to school, you may want to attend some free courses offered by the Bridgewater Library.
Classes are always held in the Technical Training Center, the first door on the left as you enter the front of the library. This month’s courses include:

Business & Investment Tuesday, October 22nd 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel Wednesday, October 30th 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Though these classes are free, the dates and times may change, so, you have to pre-register for most events. To pre-register, you can either sign up at the library’s Adult Reference Desk, or, call 908.526.4016, ask for ext. 105. Every month, the library offers different types of free computer courses. For those who want to learn how to speak English clearly The English Conversation Group will offer a casual setting for those interested in improving their pronunciation. The group will meet at the library from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays, October 16th, November 6th, November 20th, December 4th, and December 18th. Again, registration is required for all classes. To register see the paragraph above.
Beginners will gather in Meeting Room B where they will focus on: making simple sentences in English, learning to follow simple instructions in English, building everyday life skills, completing an English proficiency test. The Instructor, Ruth Borbner, taught English for many years while living in Japan.
The Intermediate class will meet in Meeting Room C where they will talk in a social setting, help those who are preparing for job interviews, practice oral/written communication skills, and discuss basic grammar. The Instructor, Mythri Menon, a Speech Language Pathologist, has been working as an English Tutor since 1990.

Anyone who wants to learn how to start a new business, or needs help with an existing business, can take advantage of free, drop-in mentoring services offered by representatives of the Central Jersey chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).
SCORE mentors will be offering their free services to the community at the Bridgewater Library on Wednesday, October 16th and October 30th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the public area, near the periodicals.
