HELPFUL TIPS
Boost LinkedIn Connections in Less than One Hour
By Ken Hitchner
In all likelihood, your next job will come from networking. Here’s a quick, four-step plan to boost your connections in less than one hour:
Step 1: Sign in to your LinkedIn account and join the NJ Networking Forum group, the largest Garden State presence with 8,000 members who are located or do business in this state.
Step 2: Invite Brian Monteleone, the group’s owner, and Eric Duchin, the group’s manager, to join your LinkedIn network. They offer a ton of connections in their own networks – and they accept all invites!
Step 3: Respond to Eric Duchin’s post of “Please post in 60 words or less, who you are, what you are looking for, what makes you different.” This will go to everyone who has responded on the post. (Make sure it’s not more than 60 words!)
Step 4: Make a commitment to comment on at least one discussion question each week to get yourself noticed.
Generation Y Networking Group
If you or someone you know is a “twentysomething,” please be aware that there is a networking forum dedicated to the specific dynamic of Generation Y.
This forum teaches all the things that we learn at PSGCNJ . . . interviewing skills, how to network, creating strong cover letters and resumes, career development, to name a few, and provides networking opportunities among their own age group.
The sessions are facilitated by Mike Palestina, a certified career coach with assistance from other expert networkers. The forum meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 7pm – 9pm at the The Library of The Chathams. The next meetings are on Nov 2 & 16, and Dec 7 & 21. For more information contact on Facebook: GenY Networking Group or at joseph.finazzo@yahoo.com
