HIRED LEARNING: Pamela Williams – Enjoying the “Sweet Smell” of Success

By Julius Alberici
After a year of unemployment, Pamela Williams is enjoying her new job at L’Oreal. She found the contract position through Kelly Services. Although the job she had applied for originally was no longer available, the Kelly recruiter asked Pamela to consider another position. After reviewing the job description of a component planner away on maternity leave, Pamela applied.
The application process was “quick.” At her interview with the Director Pamela provided a reference from a raw-materials supplier of L’Oreal’s. One week later, the Kelly recruiter reported that the Director wanted to know when Pamela could start. About one-and-a-half weeks later, Pamela started the job which may develop into a permanent appointment.
PSGCNJ helped Pamela land. The five-day training jump-started her search and the weekly speakers taught her new techniques. Pamela “met a great group of people (at PSGCNJ) who supported each other while sharing job leads and creative job search ideas.” She gives a lot of credit to the Transition Management Team (TMT), formerly known as the Career Management Team (CMT), which helped her to develop her job-search plan: “At the TMT meetings, I received constructive feedback, ideas, and alternatives to navigating this challenging market.”
Congratulations to Pamela!
