PSGCNJ has lined up a dynamic duo for May 20th. Social media experts and husband and wife team, Peter and Jessica Methot of Rutgers University will provide their unique insights into how to leverage social networks for job growth.

Peter is the Program Manager for Rutgers Center for Management Development’s highly acclaimed “Mini-MBA” executive education program, (http://www.rutgers.cmd.edu). He is a digital marketing specialist as well as entrepreneur who built up a successful pizzeria business while still a student in college.

Jessica is Assistant Professor in Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations, specializing in human resources, social networks and interpersonal workplace relationships.

According to Jessica, “There has been an explosion in social media and social networking tools over the last five years, and organizations are increasingly thinking about how to apply these tools to the HR function. Although HR leaders are creatively applying these tools in a variety of ways, the first and most obvious use of social media and social networking tools is for attracting talent and building employer brands. As job seekers, it is vital to understand how organizations are using these tools, so that you can best navigate through the recruitment and selection process.”

The Methots will present real-life case studies using social media and social networking tools for self-branding. Additionally they’ll discuss how employers use social media to make their employment decisions and provide info on your legal rights as a job candidate.
