PSGCNJ Career Center Lands First Employer Request
By Kenneth Hitchner
About 10 days ago, several of our Career Center staffers represented PSGCNJ members in our Talent Network at the first CHEMPHARMA job fair in Princeton.
Community Consultant Mike Davidian Jr. spoke to about seven employers himself, educating them about our organization, our values and our talented professionals.
Two business days later, one of the HR Managers, who he spoke with at the job fair, went to our Talent Network, reviewed our list of members with the background to become the company’s next controller – and then used the email function to request information from one of our members! (Our member quickly responded with his updated resume; he is extremely grateful to the Career Center volunteers.)
In short, it took the newly created PSGCNJ Career Center one job fair and two business days to create interest for our members from regional employers.
Here is some quick feedback from employers that we met at the job fair:
- Most employers had not heard about PSGCNJ, but were interested in learning more.
- Employers liked that fact that we put our members to work with real job titles, real job descriptions and real assignments/responsibilities.
- Employers wanted to know how much we charge for placing our talent.
The PSGCNJ Career Center is currently working to schedule more appearances at more job fairs in September and October.
