PSGCNJ Helps 800th Unemployed Professional Land

BRIDGEWATER – PSGCNJ recently helped its 800th unemployed professional
go back to work, another milestone for the independent employment community.
“Our programs allows unemployed professionals the unique opportunity to keep
their skills current, so when the economy is ready, they will be ready to go back
to work,” said PSGCNJ Executive Director Kenneth Hitchner. “As the economy
gets better, so does our organization.”
Last month, PSGCNJ set another monthly record as it confirmed that 19
members went back into the workforce during the 31 days of July. Since Jan. 1,
2013, the organization has helped 100 unemployed go back to work, compared
to 59 during 2012.
The 800 ‘landings’ came from years of effort, spanning from June 2008, when the
State of New Jersey created the Professional Service Group program with 11
chapters throughout the state. The State cut the program in May 2012, when its
members turned it into a nonprofit organization.

professionals back to work through educational and workforce development
programs that include networking, support, and employer-outreach services.
Currently, the nonprofit is awaiting tax-exempt status.
The nonprofit primarily serves six counties in New Jersey: Somerset, Morris,
Middlesex, Union, Mercer and Hunterdon.
