SBA to hold free tax workshop at RVCC
If you own a small New Jersey business and want no-cost tax advice, then you may want to attend an upcoming free workshop at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC).
The Small Business Administration (SBA) Tax Workshop will hold a half-day seminar inside RVCC’s Conference Center, at the main Branchburg campus, Thursday, February 27th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This seminar, whose course title is CRN 60277, will assist small business owners by helping them meet their responsibilities and obligations under New Jersey tax law. The Division of Taxation provides this free course to all participants.
The workshop will include the following topics:
- learning how to register your business with New Jersey’s Division of Division of Taxation & Revenue and the state Department of Labor (DOL)
- filing Sales and Use Tax Returns
- meeting employer responsibilities, and
- reporting business income
Participants will learn the proper procedures for collecting and remitting various New Jersey taxes and the sales tax responsibilities of small businesses, including a description of taxable and exempt sales/services. Division personnel will also be available to discuss the different types of business ownerships available in the state and the tax consequences of each.
